I am going to be away on a trip, does anybody know how I am going to protect my car from the rainy weather and the strong sun?
Any ideas very very much appreciated, or please share what you do.
I have a shiny exhaust pipe, chrome wheels, etc etc I need to think of.
Thank you so much in advanced, opponauts. You really make me feel we are a community like a family.

A good outdoor car cover.

Clean the car first, then put on a weather proof cover. Dont put it on a dirty car or you will may scratch the car when the cover moves around.
Before I had a house with a garage, I usually found an apt complex parking deck that was open to the public. Nothing like free covered parking.

I used to park my car in a guarded parking deck near a train station near my house.

How long are you gone? If its a while, rent a 10'x10' storage unit. Problem solved. Priciest but best plan.

You could wax it but that doesn't help much with UV protection. I would not use a car cover outside either. I've seen what happens when a car cover is used outside in the elements for too long. They trap moisture (even the breathable ones). A garage is the only sure way. If you're going to an airport most have covered parking these days.

This reminds me that I really need to clean out my garage so something wheeled can actually fit in it...I have 4 cars that live outside under a pine tree. MY GOD THE SAP.

This might not be a complete option, but to me it sounds like you need a car cover. You can find universal ones at basically any parts store (ex. Autozone). You may also be able to find one at the dealer for your car, and that one would probably fit better. I would assume that the universal ones would be cheaper. They will cover the exhaust pipe, but probably only cover 1/2 of the wheels. If you wanted to protect the full wheel you could rip up some plastic bags into sheets, and then tape them to the tires. Just a couple of options.

Yeah this is what I thought. I think the trapped moisture will cause rust, I have seen it happen myself. What do you think of taping plastic to the rims? might be the same effect when the temperature goes back up and condensation occurs.
