You'd be surprised. It's more shock than anything when it happens.

I don't have any pictures, but my Kia got battered a month away from it's first birthday. Similar level of damage to this. It was devastating, but not tear worthy: ultimately it's still just a car.

When the crazy big hail storm hit St. Louis a few years ago, I remember sitting in the garage watching it batter the living hell out of my dad's truck and my van. My van fared well thanks to how think the steel on it is, the truck still looks like a golf ball three years later. Luckily it didn't break any mirrors or the windshield.

My windshield was cracked but not broken. Luckily I'd parked under a tree. A friend of mine had a 99 Miata totalled only 5 days after buying it.

My car spent 3 weeks in the shop, $8600 of damage

The truck had something like $4500 but it never got fixed. Dad and Mom used the money on more pressing financial issues at the time, considering my dad was unemployed.

I would definitely be pissed!

But I'm just saying that if insurance didn't cover the repairs then I wouldn't want to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for all those panels to be fixed/replaced out of my pocket. Once the broken window was replaced the car would be totally drivable. The damage would only be cosmetic. And since the body is already fucked might as well do track time on the weekends!
