Potato pictures, but I think the Dart looks way cooler without the trim. It came with the larger 225 slant6 opposed to the 170. After photo is first, then the before.

Now all it needs is to be painted black...

Im feeling a dark Navy to keep things matching the blue interior. And maybe a white stripe of sorts.

I like the current blue, fits the car best I think.

If you are going a dark color you're going to enjoy block sanding. If you need any bodywork tips, I just finished my trans am.

How do you feel about stud weldeing? I only have about 2 big dents worth pulling out.

How big? Can you get in behind it and hammer it out? I haven't stud welded myself but it has been done on my car before by a PO.

I like the way you think. I also like how we're both high schoolers that are restoring (restored in your case) old american cars. I also think it's cool how you're a GM guy and I'm Mopar and we get along alright, unlike our older counterparts.

I might try and hammer the one in the trunk out. The other one is on the front quarter panel and I just remembered we had a spare one in storage that has significantly less dents. It's really a pretty straight car. I just need to weld some new sheet metal on the bottom of the rear panels behind the wheels and it should be ready to paint.

I'm from NJ but I live in NC. I keep the last plate we had her registered on before we put her in storage on the front as a reminder of the cars history.

I'm a Pontiac guy first (with a bit of chevy thrown in) and mopar guy second. Mopars weren't the fastest, prettiest, or cheapest but they were the perfect cars for lunatics and that's why I like them. I am not a ford guy at all (except the GT).

Evercoat Gold polyester filler. That stuff is excellent for filling dents. It dries in 5 minutes and sands so much better than bondo.

Hmmm, I wonder how well those old Slant 6s take boost...

They're sort of set up for it already with low compression.

Thanks! I just know I can buy bondo at homedepot and didn't really think there were other options out there.

It's relativly easy. The hardest part would be making headers or taking a pipe off the old ones, and tuning the carb. There are holes all over for mounting things and the block is really heavy and indestructible.

I'm always slightly wary of carbs + turbos, but I suppose it's worked well on a number of cars before.

You'd most likely have to make something custom wouldn't you? It'd make for a pretty kickass alternative to your usual V8 muscle car build though :)

v8 is a longterm dream. For now we're thrashing the six and might try a budget turbo build.

Ooh, turbo or a honking great supercharger.

Yeah, do the second one. You won't need to muck about with connecting the exhaust turbine to the intake and DAT SUPERCHARGER WHINE :)

Hey SLANT6
IMO i wouldnt paint it. keep the original paint and just run some widened steelies
either way. Nice car(s)

Out of curiosity. how did you come to own such a car?

And I agree. But my dad is insisting on paint and aluminum wheels (he wants chrome cragers but we had a compromise). Defiantly wider tires. Might adjust the front torsion bars for some lowering action and go for lowered leaf springs when I replace them (they need it).
