I've taken a few Ford units apart, they never got back together correctly. . . But the factory units are all shit. Just get the wiring harness and dash kit and be done with futzing with that piece of junk.

Look it up on Crutchfield, not the cheapest parts but they do fit and work right without cutting wires.
