My panel gap. It's why guys make up for inadequacies by buying Corvettes.

welcome to a GM built car. Look at original camaros, Novas, chevelles, they all has mismatched panel gap and just flat terrible fitment from the factory. The corvettes actually had the best fitment in the 60s

Those are speed gaps. They make the car go faster.

That door has to be open or something. Calling shenanigans!

Year 2k Buick owner here: panel gaps so big I just call them air intakes.

Is that hood to door?

I wish you were right, but I can run my index finger right down between the door and clamshell hood...

It is. Don't ask me how, haha. I think of it as a unique factory touch, although it could have been done professionally by the previous owner.

I'll bet that gap was wide to accommodate opening and closing the large hood without bashing paint.

Not saying it's right, just that there may be a reason.

That would be a good justification, but the strange thing is that the other side has such a close fit. It's not a big deal, but definitely unusual.

Then I'll bet the hood was off at one point and just not adjusted properly once it was put back on.

Edit, like this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-tech-perfor…

Those slots are there to be able to take up tolerance.

Holy *gap*. The hood and door were parted by corvette Jesus by washing the car with the water of Nazareth.

Thanks, man! I never planned on owning a Corvette, but when this came up for $5k and looked pretty nice, I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did, and I'm thrilled to own it, but I'll be really excited once (if) I get my shit together otherwise and can get the car registered and insured. Still, it'll be great if I have it to use over the summer, and is cool just to have around.

hate to break it to ya, Jay: the C4 is the red-headed step child of the Corvette family. Little details like this (and lots of much worse ones) are the reason why.

eh, you're right but I knew going in what I was getting in to. I still like the looks, character, and feel of the C4. Its performance is more than adequate, and it's the best I could afford. Besides, a few hood adjustments will make the gap go away.

I like it.

If I had one and lots of money, I'd do an engine swap (LS3 or something) and make it a "sleeper." Everyone expects a C4 to be kinda crap, right?

Your hood is out of alignment. One of the pitfalls of having such an awesome hood arangement is that it's very easy to knock sideways. Mine is slightly skewed, too.

It would be pretty awesome to have an LS C4. I am trying to imagine an LS7...

Kinja'd!!!1

It's the clam hell design. Apparently it's not too hard to align, so I'll see if I can get it to shut flush to the door. The only hellaflush I want on my car.
