I seriously need a decent size garage. By decent size I mean a 10000+ sq ft barn...

That's good for a start.

Quick math: 6' x14' car size (average-ish.) - > ~119, with space for access, more like 60.

Well, okay. 119/60's not aiming *that* low. Still, you'll need to subtract a few to allow for limos.

My current lust in that price range is a ' 48 Packard Super Eight Standard at DesertClassics. Body is nigh-perfect, but needs interior.

A good friend of mine has a blue '48 Packard sedan, that's a near mint survivor. He practically stole it for $5k, but that was roughly 15 years ago.

I'm a huge fan of the '48 Packard, it's on my bucket list. This one is a real bargain and makes me want to scream for not having an emergency car funds stash. Non-operable probably would put a classics loan out of the picture too, not to mention the making-my-dad's-head-explode quotient (my parking location).

Wow that is quite clean. The body is in great shape and the dash looks great (little polish will shine it up by the way it appears in the photo). The worst part, no surprise, is the interior and given that it is a Packard will make it difficult.

Well, enough of it is there to pattern the upholstery, so it's not by any means unpossible. There's even a classics upholstery shop here in town, the advice of some opponauts in the upholstery business, and even a relative who's dipping a toe in car upholstery... just, GAH. WANT.

True. I would lead sled it (yeah even though it is a 4 door). Modern powertrain, suspension, and brakes. Would be quite awesome

I'd be tempted to leave it straight eight (because seriously, straight eight) and so on, but provide minor tweaks to the suspension and adapter-plate me some Wilwood discs. Tasteful updates, nothing really major.

Leave the straight 8! It's a sweet little motor, and way cooler than just being anothet car with a small block in it.
