Personally like them. Does anyone think they should be standard or is blind spot detection better. Never driven a car with blind spot detection.

Ford has great mirrors for this. When I bought my 5.0 a few years ago, it was incredible how much a difference they made.

I've never been in a vehicle where I couldn't dial out the blind spots with good old fashioned mirrors. Personally (and for no real reason) I've always thought they looked tacky.

my mirrors are too small for them

Agree 100% - always been able to get there with the std mirrors...

I experienced the extreme of this when I test drove an i3 the other day, which had a parabolic mirror on the drivers side. It was weird.

Would it not work on the passenger side.

I personally like them a lot and I find them quite helpful.

I have never had a car with them. I wish i had either. My car has fucking huge blind spots.

Those are the only mirrors a car should have.

My mirrors stick out for miles so I see everything...
But I have driven an 07 XC90 and a '13 Fusion many times with the blind spot system... aka the little light. I never pay attention to it much.

They should be standard and the only mirror. I never use the standard ones.

Yeah. It was weird...but good. I could see everything, including traffic two lanes over.

Fiesta has blindspot mirrors

Which is hilarious because the visibility is so good.

blind spot mirrors? I dunno... I just don't see it.

love them. I get the stick on circle ones from AutoZone. 2 for $4. I originally had to get them because I had European folding mirrors on my Supras and wouldn't be able to see without them. They're also great for parallel parking.

My elantra has one on the drivers side. I rather like it, as it makes it easy to change lanes without worrying about the massive blind spot.

I find them to be awesome. well worth the 5 bucks. They help much more on cars than trucks/suvs with their larger mirrors. Also helps when parallel parking to see the curb better. i wish manufacturers could just add them in, or as an option.
Any time I rent a car I always forget and after hopping in and I start adjusting the seat, I'll always start swearing.

Have I heard correctly that these are illegal in the USA and driver side mirrors must be flat?

Love them. They're a great safety tool.

There's no reason why they wouldn't.

I love how this topic comes up every few weeks.

If you adjust the standard side mirrors properly you have no need for stick-on ones. It is a little awkward at first, but you quickly adjust within a few days.

Damn, my bad.

Hate them. My current w202 had them when I bought it. Tried for a few weeks but found they just got in the way. Shouldn't be necessary with a properly positioned mirror.

While I agree they aren't 100% necessary, I find them to be very handy. Helpful for parallel parking, and it's just nice to have the added vision.

I'd say that most cars don't need them if you adjust the mirrors properly.
But after driving a Ford Edge I'd say that on some vehicles they are a necessity. That thing has a monstrous blind spot, and I guess Ford knew it too because they added factory blind spot mirrors a few model years after mine. No amount of adjustment has been able to get rid of them, and a 3500 pickup can hide in it. That's bad.

I've heard that as well; I make a point of buying Euro-spec aspherical mirrors and putting them in my cars. I love 'em.

All cars should come with them. I put them on my van. My mom currently has a rental fusion with the same mirrors, I like them.

I replaced my E39s mirrors with these style after my wife SOMEHOW kept popping them out of the housings and breaking them. Love them and a stick-on blind spot mirror isn't necessary.

If you ever see a car where the owner has installed glue-on auto parts store blind spot mirrors, it is a near-guarantee it is a terrible driver (usually some old person who can't see), and I stay as far away from them as possible. Usually seen on Toyota Corollas. That aside, I rented an old body style Fusion recently and hated that the car had blind spot mirrors built in. I couldn't stand seeing double when I was checking my mirrors. Because I am a good enough driver to understand how to use a regular mirror plus I head-check whenever changing lanes, there is no need for these stupid things. I figure the blind spot mirrors were added on by manufacturers in the hopes that oblivious drivers might have a tiny bit lower chance of backing over a child on a bicycle w/ these things when they back out of their driveway w/o actually turning their head around to see what is behind them, than w/o them.
