I was in Washington DC almost all of last week for something non-car related (went to see NPR's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , of which I maintain a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for). Obviously, I couldn't just be in DC and not take time to do something Audi related. So, I went out to Rockville Audi in Rockville, MD and Audi Forum Herndon (more commonly known as Audi of America HQ).

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

At Rockville Audi, I got to see two RS 7s, two Suzuka Gray RS 5s and a Volcano Red SQ5.

At Audi Forum Herndon, there was the S4 Nogaro Blue special edition, the facelifted A8 and S8 and a few special/exclusive cars in the garage via a guided tour.

I've been in that R8 at HQ. Were you surprised to find that it had manual seat controls? I was.

Having read some of the information on the release of the R8 GT and V10 plus, it was not surprising that it had manual controls due to their goal of shaving as many pounds as possible from the car's weight. I think Porsche does the same for their stripped down (and marked-up) models.

The only letdown was that they had moved the RS 7 Dynamic Edition to an unknown location and I didn't get to see it. Also, there had been a Nardo Gray RS 5 Cabriolet on its way to Rockville but it didn't arrive until much later that day. That said, it was great to see some of the unique cars at Audi Forum and to get a tour of the garage.

Nice, if you find yourself back in the Dc area make sure to check out Katie's cars and coffee in great falls. Audi of America sometimes brings in pre production vehicles.

If I could drive one car for the rest of my life, it would be the RS7. God damn, I love that Rear ISO view.

I'm thinking about heading back out there in October for Cars, Cars and Cars out at Bretton Woods Rec Center... but only if budget allows. I'll definitely look into Katie's Cars and Coffee nonetheless. Thanks!

Completely agree with you. It's not an Avant, but it definitely can haul a good amount of stuff and can really haul a** as well ;)

Have you driven a SQ5? My dad is planning to trade up from a Q5 3.2

I haven't driven the SQ5 yet, but the Q5 3.0TFSI and the Q5 3.0TDI are pretty peppy. I think the SQ5's suspension would help a bit with the floaty feel of the standard Q5 suspension. I just really, really wished Audi could have used the 7-speed S Tronic in the SQ5.

The 3.2 has great pulling power and makes a great noise above 3500rpm but he decided that he wants something faster so its either this or an S4 which was an amazing loaner car.

I felt the same way about the 3.2 in the A5 coupe, but my heart when all crazy like when I test drove the S5 4.2. That said, there's something so freaking addicting about the way the supercharged V6 pulls and mates perfectly with both the manual and the S Tronic.

Doesn't the SQ5 have the same engine albeit with a bit more power?

The 3.0TFSI in the SQ5 makes the same amount of HP as the 4.2 in the S5 (354), but with more torques (340 I think).
