I just optioned one of these out for fun... came out to $80K
Now I get it... emissions, fuel economy, yadda yadda yadda. But 80 large for a 4 pot?

Insanity.

You can max out a new WRX at about $34,000 - so yeah, that's the highest I'd pay.

Fuel economy is a huge consideration for folks in this market.

I get that turbo 4s are getting more powerful, but if I'm spending that kind of money, I want a V8... I think the most I could see spending on a four cylinder is ~$30k (new car).

A lot, I guess.

Absolute most I would ever pay for 4 cylinders is $30k and that would be a WRX, Golf R, or a FoST.

I don't mind, cylinder count is not a meaningful metric.

what about a cla45?

i agree. If 2 cars are the same in every measurable way except cylinder count, i would see more cylinders = nicer sound playing into the equation.

Nope.

I did this. Over $80,000 for a AWD, turbocharged 4 cyl?

£45,000 ($76,000). Any day of the week.

Nothing that makes a 528i more expensive than a Camry XLE is a meaningful metric.

IDK man... why not the Cayman R? Aside from the drop dead gorgeous looks, which I admit are a legit plus, Cayman R or even S is a much better car all around.

Purely fanboyism. I'm an Alfa fan, and I don't particularly care for Porsches. They're great cars I'm sure, but I just don't want one.

Fair enough.
