so I am not passing judgement on the people shot, nor on the cops doing the shooting. But GOD DAMN they lit this C70 up.

to be fair, the c70 was such a bad platform, that it would have killed the owner in time.

I am unaware of there being an issue with those. Why? I thought it was recycled 850 underpinnings like my V70R was

your V70 has an appropriate number of pillars. The c70s, in shedding the B pillar, turned a solid platform into one made out of tofu. the cowl shake and subsequent build quality was bad. not to mention the electrics in volvos of the time. In the three I've driven, not a single one had a confidence inspiring experience.

I was going to go into my "cars are weapons, he wasn't unarmed" pitch. However, after reading the story, the guy was armed earlier in the day. He probably just tossed his weapons during the chase or after the robbery. The police had no reason to not assumed they were armed.

huh yeah that is worse than the rear diff mount issues of the R AWD. But yeah I hate the electronics. Always see brandy new window switches on them (but at least they fixed the placement of them over the 850, under the cupholder)

how were the V70R's? I wanted one but everyone was telling me I would need a new bank account to keep it on the road. I forget the numbers but it was something like $18k for ~80,000 miles. I did not want a fixer after putting a new engine in my truck. I have enough to do with the house and kids.

I can concur with this. My aunt had one briefly, and it was a miserable experience the one time I drove it. You could feel the weight of the car in a wide variety of corners at nearly any speed, the brakes were really soft, and it was anemic-feeling. I didn't get a chance to drive it again because she totaled it a month or two later.

it wasnt great, but not too bad. my ex blew the engine in it last year. The only way to go is the 850R wagon in my mind. I had one of those too and it was a damn sports truck
