Took the Alfa out to the Oasis for Cars & Coffee on SUnday. Your usual mix of bros with $300,000 exotics ruined by aftermarket ground effect kits, but also some pretty weird iron driven by car geeks.

The Alfa, by the fact alone that it ran and was more or less well preserved, was a big hit.

Sorry, some of the pics got out of order so interiors don't necessarily match up.

I would've gone, but we had to leave Austin early yesterday. And I REALLY want to go to the ATX iteration.

I showed up last weekend (Mother's Day) and there were maybe 6 people. I guess it got moved to this just-past weekend. I had movie tickets (Godzilla - not bad) yesterday so I missed it. I think it's on X Games weekend in June, so that's a no-go as well. Maybe in July.

Yeah, they changed the date, sort of 11th hour, due to mother's day.I've actually only been one other time, in January or February. The crowd was sort of a turn off, and this was my second chance. I have to say, this weekend was far more tolerable. I didn't see a single Gallardo doing donuts in the middle of the public street, inches from where families were pushing strollers through the crosswalk. That family being us. My wife did not return with me, nor did the girls.

ANYWAY, I wish I knew if that '58 Lotus 11 was real. It was registered as a '58, but that would make it one of fewer than 300, so I have a hard time accepting that. And driven? On public roads? Insane. Still, very cool. The '63 Elite was gorgeous too. Lots of Loti this weekend.

I don't get the Miata stancers, really. One old coot was absolutely incensed that their rims extended a good quarter inch past the bead of the tires. "How in tarnation do the tires stay on?" were his exact words.

And man, that Lincoln Conti was MIND BLOWINGLY gorgeous. Flawless.

Can a schlub like me with a shitbox econo-wagon show up to one of these shows just to bask in all the beauty, or is it for owners only?

Hell yeah. The first time I went I drove a goddamn CRV. There's an adjacent free parking garage to hide your shame, although lately it's been filling up with overflow.

I keep seeing posts for the Austin C&C and I've been hoping to drag my kids along. Thanks for letting me know this! :)
