It is hard to be worth at least that much in parts.

CP. I see very few parts worth salvaging/selling.

Maybe if it was a Ram Air GTO or a Big block Chevelle SS. There's a ton of work there for a car that isn't that valuable.

CP if you are looking for a project, you could get a non-running Cutlass that is in one piece for $1000-2000.

NP if you need it for parts. Parts are not as widely reproduced for these as they are for the Chevelle or Pontiac LeMans and it is difficult to find salvagable ones left in junkyards. I'd buy it if you needed the parts for another Cutlass. The center console piece and the fenders are easily sellable. Some of the interior plastics are hard to find. The motor might have some usefull parts on it, but it doesn't look like the block is in great shape. I've restored a 72 Cutlass Supreme and I am currently restoring a 72 Cutlass S.

When I got my Supreme, the sheet metal was more rotten but it was in one piece and didn't take much to get it running. However, it took alot to get it roadworthy.

Personally, I'd buy it just because I love them and already have experience with Cutlasses (if I was closer of course).

You wouldn't be able to touch a real GTO or Chevelle SS body for this money, even it was in worse shape. A Malibu or a LeMans is possible, but if you think you can touch a factory big block car for that money, then you're dreaming. People would pay $600 just for a ram-air hood. These are cool cars, but a bunch of old men that miss the glory days have jacked up the prices to unbelievable amounts.

I realize that, I was commenting more on the amount of work required. I wouldn't put that much work in on a free Cutlass, but I'd put the work in on the aforementioned GTO or SS 396. I am acutely aware of the Value, I've followed them all my life but thanks for the concern and suggesting that I'm an idiot, appreciate it...

I wasn't suggesting that you were an idiot. I didn't know whether you were aware of the value or not.

This particular Cutlass may not be worth the effect since it is in pieces and has no special factory equipment. However, they are appreciating quickly as people turn away from inflated Chevrolet prices and a more complete one might be worth effort in a few years.
