So how many people here on Oppo are my age and began to love the Hudson Hornet back when Cars came out in 2006? I am not afraid to admit that is the first place I feel in love and learned about the Hornet. It also played a large part in my judging decision to award it the prestigious Best of Lakewood Schools Car Show award for the 2014 year.

Looked very similar to this only the paint was a little different and it sparkled. I loved that thing.

BTW, Cars came out in 2006.

Scared the shit out of me when I read that though, I was not ready to admit that cars was 11 years old.

Shit I meant to fact check that before I put it on the site. Thanks for the catch. I love that movie and admit as a 19 year old I would still watch it.

Yeah same boat, dont care if I'm 19, its an awesome movie. I got it for Christmas when I was like 11 or 12, watched it like 4 times in a day and a half. No regrets.

I had no clue the Hornet existed until I saw Cars, and ever since I've wanted one.

THAT MOVIE'S BEEN OUT 8 YEARS? God I feel old.

I made my family and friends go watch it in the movie theater 3 times. Once with parents, then again with grandparents, and then again with my mom after begging. Good times

Best scene in the film. Trivia: The voice of Doc Hudson was Paul Newman, a real actor and racing driver past his prime, the role was somewhat written around his character. This is the same founder of Newman's Own foods and the guy who used to race with Bob Sharp Racing with a number of Datsuns:

AND placed 1st in his class (2nd overall) at the 1978 24h of Lemans, making him the highest placing US team, behind only Porsche-Kremer.

In a flatnose Porsche 935 nonetheless!

He was truly a living badass.

I had no idea they went into that much detail with this kind of stuff before for the movie. The older and older I get the more I respect that movie for all the historical accuracy and integration of car history. Very cool!

I still love watching this movie. I was hooked as soon as I saw the wing of the "King" Richard Petty's 70 Plymouth Superbird.

I actually got my wife to watch Cars with me on our first big movie date! Hahahah... and we both thought that Doc Hudson was the coolest racer in the show. Mr Newman indeed was a badass, may he R.I.P. and burn loads of rubber in the dreams of many aspiring young racers out there! :]

Maybe it was just the movie magic as a kid but I always preferred the styling and profile of the King from the movie over the actual Superbird. But that is like saying I prefer 2 million dollars over 1.5 million dollars. They are both still spectacular.

I always knew that he was a badass, but I couldn't really wrap my head around how badass until he won his class at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1995....at age 70. I was 20 at the time. Yeah...gonna be 40 next year. Still some years left to have fun. I'd be happy if I could live half as well.

I liked Hudson Hornets before they were cool. Still, can't complain, there's been a huge wave of interest in them from the movie, which means people with one in their back forty are selling them, and you can now get a Revell/Monogram model of one again. Which I did. Saturday.

I love this movie and so does my son. I still laugh at the scene with Click and Clack.

Yeah well my brother's always lit and he still needs headlights

Every. Time.

I even chuckled to myself as I wrote out that line.

The subtle innuendos in Cars definitely adds to the movie in a big way!
