Made an ST hatchback that was rear wheel drive with 1980s box flares. And they gave it to me for free because I dared to dream.
Picture for attention:

I don't like it either but this is nearest thing to box flares I could find.

I like the parts themselves but the previous gen focus was a lot more boxy so looks kinda strange adding the parts to the curvier new gen car.

I guess I dreamed Lancia was back in a Ford body, again!! What I really want I guess is just a ST flavour and tech with the box flares of a Delta Integrale (I believe they evo and rally versions were 4WD)

Okay, I can do either:
AWD with the box flares.
Or
RWD without.
Alternately, if you see the light and come to realise that there's absolutely nothing wrong with FWD, there's this:
As a bonus, they're all RSs, which is a step up from ST.

I actually really like what Ford has done with their FWD, the torque vectoring technology they use makes it handle really well with no torque steering.
I will take the RWD but no box flares and I guess the FWD RS. I feel like nowadays Subaru rules the AWD hatch back world.

I didn't think Subaru made an AWD hatch any more? :-P But yeah, I'd probably pick the same. I've always preferred the Sierra Cosworth's looks to the Escort's, anyway.
As for FWD handling... I'm a bit of a classic hot hatch fan, and one of my favourite cars in the world is the old Peugeot 205 GTi, so I'll have to take issue with the idea that there weren't any excellent-handling FWD cars before the RS came around... But it is a fine car, nonetheless.

I think hot hatches have always been known for the snappy handling. The quick turning and the constant feeling of accuracy and speed even if the car doesn't have 300 hp. Its a shame we don't get nearly as many models here in North America.

These flares should not just cut off here.

Ford Fiesta RS is rumoured to be released next year with 230bhp and Focus RS soon after. Should be some great times ahead.
One friend is looking to trade his Fiesta ST for a Fiesta RS
and his dad (whos 64) with the Focus ST is looking to move away from Ford with the Honda Civic Type R, hopefully he'll get attracted to the Focus RS.
