On acceleration, there's a very distinct hesitation, like passing over slick spots on a road.
Also, after a spirited (but not intense) drive, when I got out of the car, there was a distinct smell that was either clutch or brakes, and I know I hadn't been braking beyond normal.
Granted it's a high-horsepower car with a dual clutch transmission, but at ~25,000 miles this seems way, way premature. The majority of the time it's driven by my mom, who is hardly a hooligan.
Any thoughts?

With a DCT on a complex car best just to take it to a good mechanic to be checked out, not a lot you can do with it really. Maybe if you're lucky it's something covered by warranty.

Check the maintenance schedule for your year. I found this: http://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/au…
It has a few clutch maintenance at 35k, so not necessarily premature if something went wrong early.
Granted, I know nothing about these cars so take it with a grain of salt.

could also be oil from the main seal. Not much better, but a possible cause.

Doesn't sound right at all. Get it checked out before it gets worse, it's probably covered by warranty.

If your clutch is slipping you'll see the rev counter go up while your speed stays the same. Anything like this should be covered under warrantee.

Should be warrantable. Take it in to the dealer. Sounds like you're definitely experiencing clutch slippage. There has to be a problem with the pressure plate or the throwout hydraulic system that wouldn't allow the clutch to fully seat.

Hey! Glad to see you're still around. I'm sure it's under the warrenty, so I would take it to the dealer first and find the problem.

If it's anything like the GTI DSG, it has dual wet clutches, that shouldn't really need any attention until well North of 100k.
