After detailing the engine bay i was tired and wanted a very cold XX (Dos equis) beer, i opened the fridge, and there was nothing. I knew there were 4 beers on the fridge, and finding it empty made my blood boil. I supposed my sister took them for a party, and i was right. I told her she owes me one of these packs for the troubles.

May I ask which technique/tools/detergents you use? Because as for now, I just use a brush and a vacuum cleaner: I still remember of when a gas station attendand told me that we could wash the engine with pressurized water, if only I kept it running... and it came out like new, without any apparent troubles... till when on my way home the car started misfiring. And it was late in the evening, and I was far from home. Luckily, I just let it dry for one hour and it came back normal, but it's not something I'm willing to try again.

Well its the first time i do it. I looked in internet and this is what i found out and worked for me.
You do soak your engine with water, but covering electrical parts like the computer and the alternator. But i did it with a garden hose,( some said its better because pressurized water forces water to the parts where you dont want to. then you add some degreaser, the most popular i saw on internet was simple green, 2nd popular was purple power, its the one i found and used. I didnt even used it much because the spary thing failed so that was it. but well, then i rinse it off with the garden hose again...
you do need to wait for the engine to dry, otherwise they say you get misfiring, when i turned the engine after like 2 hours it had no problems running.
Heres a video of someone cleaning a GT40, a Ferrari 458, and a corvette. So i suppose he knows what he is doing and thats the way to go.

Thank you very much! This confirms that my mistake was not to let the engine dry. Not that I was told of doing so, by the gas station attendant. I think that to have the engine running or not while you're washing it, is quite irrilevant. The important thing is to let it dry completely. I'll keep this in mind for my next engine cleaning!
