I've always had a soft-spot for the Malibu Maxx.
That whole generation of Malibu was bad. But something about the Maxx appealed to me. Maybe how out there it was? I dunno. All I know is that it was the closest thing to a modern day Malibu Wagon we got.
I really like the SS version as well. Which had the same 3.9L V6 that came in the Impala.

They weren't bad bad. They were ok. The SS ones could scoot pretty good and the interiors were more than livable. Plus, I can say that they handled better than other fwd normal-cars that I had experienced. They drifted nicely on this one short entrance ramp that I know without any input from the brakes and the right application of steering and throttle.

No, no, no, no, no, no, quite the opposite! Sorry if I worded that less clear than I meant. Those Malibus are actually way better in pretty much every measurable way.
They are much better than these Malibus:

I thought you meant like previous-to-current generation!
I was like, I know someone who has one of those and they're really nice!
But yeah, those early 2000s Malibus were bad. Like really really bad.

I've always likes the Maxx as well, and I think it's also because it was really out there for its time styling-wise. I wish they had made them with a manual!
