Now a days it seems like everyone is getting a leaf. Well, everyone at my office. Right now there are over 14 leafs in our office parking lot, and the number continues to grow. As of this morning, I learned that someone in my office is now the 50,000 Nissan Leaf buyer in the USA. So, now Nissan is coming out to interview him and they're planning a photo shoot of all the leaf owners together, as well as giving us a charging station. I'm sorry, but the leaf is stupid. I hate it. I'm sure it's a great investment, and their owners seem to love them. But there's no appeal to me whatsoever. I think I'll crash that Nissan photo shoot with a good old fashioned burnout while I chant, "USA! USA! USA!".

I have a feeling you won't like Norway then :P VW Norway have a list of 2000 people for the Electric VW Golf.. On preorder. We've got more than 2000 electric VW e-up!s here as well. And Tesla Model S? More than 2000 sold as well (THIS YEAR).. In a country that's got a population of just above 5 million people :)

Meh, I would never buy one but I do think they are good for a lot of people. I just don't want a car that I can't go more than 100 miles in. Leafs were blocking the roads all over Atlanta during the freak snowstorm this past winter. After the owners sat in traffic for 3 hrs they all ran out of juice, and were abandoned. After the storm was over they had to be towed home to be charged, or to the nearsest charging station. This delayed the reopening of roads for a day or 2. Sure a leaf would work for me 90% of the time, and I could rent a car when I needed to drive longer distances. But I want a car that's fun, not just an appliance.

A Leaf is fine, so long as *ALL YOU DO* is commute.

However, like what happened with the Prius in California, as soon as tax breaks or other incentives stop, you'll see a drop in the demand.

A guy at my office, with a Leaf, asked why I bought the Mini instead of a Leaf. The Leaf has an MSRP of $35K for the good one (Because who wants steel wheels and cloth seats on their Leaf) before all the .gov meddling. My Mini has an MSRP of $25K.

Me: $10K buys a lot of gasoline. About 2500 gallons worth, in fact. Which will run the Mini for about 70K miles at the EPA city mileage. So I have car + fuel for 70K+ miles while you just have *the car*.

With their maximum torque at zero RPM, the Leafs would be able to join you...

...for about five minutes before their battery packs ran out.

What a coincidence! I spent an hour in one of these last night! I actually kinda liked it. Sure, it's range isn't too big, but it has enough torque to chirp the front tires, and it is pretty composed in the corners. The interior is also a very nice place to be

I see more Tesla Model S' around here than I see Mercedes S-class of every generation put together...

Disclaimer: I live 5 miles from a Tesla dealership and pass by it every day.
