I'd say go for non-Revell ones, if you're a beginner. The more precise fit of pieces will be more rewarding, though the Revell kits tend to have fewer pieces. I have what may be a different pressing of that same Merkava model, though (Academy brand, I think), and it has an unimaginable number of pieces - even down to little pewter chains for the anti-grenade skirt. Not even a tiny bit for beginners. Perhaps you could try the M3 Stuart (?) to the upper right: small tanks make for easier models :)

And the sad thing is I've got a shelving unit full of MIB kits (mostly planes) that I've been ignoring for five years now.

In Indonesia, All of them is Model kits.
