There were a few things easily fixed in Photoshop with the classic rebodied Miata earlier today. The front jowls initially bugged the heck out of me, but looking at the rest of the car, there were a few things to tune. Body is too slab sided, needs to roll under more and lift off the ground for classic lightness impression. Roof mass is too flat- needs volume to match rest of the car and give meat to the area above the windshield header. Is the lower image an improvement? What do you think?
Long dash-to-axle is a great proportion to work with, but that big empty space between the from wheelhouse and doorcut needs a garnish, trim piece or air outlet to entertain the eye.

a two tone paint job like an old 100 might look good too. (though the front wheel arches would need some modification to really set it off)

I think the fender vent is a big improvement, but it also need a ram air intake. I'd also go an inch smaller wheel and tire.

I think the headlights should be more WITH the nose. Basically, smooth out the front end. Right now, it looks like the Mach 6 from Speed Racer: Next Generation to me.

Agreed! I prefer a more integrated look. I wanted to keep the essential theme and tune what was there, but that would be the big facelift it may need.

this need de-angleing. make it more curvalinear.
Edit- DAMMIT KINJA!!! the grille housing need to be more curved, round out the continuation of the hood angle by the time it reaches the grille.
