Previous generation Malibus (the really pretty ones) are going for really cheap now.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I'm pretty sure that stickered for near $30k new.

Too reliable for Carmax warranty, try again.

Of course it is, but you don't have to get the warranty.

Still is nice to have in case you got a rotten apple. There was a guy on here with a GTO LS2 who had a cracked block a few thousand miles in and got a replacement engine through the warranty.

I actually picked up an Impereal Blue CPO '11 Malibu LTZ V6 with 36k miles on it for $15,300 back in January. Its a great family hauler, and decently quick when you put your boot in it. Oh, and I found the original window sticker folded up in the manual, and you're spot on. It was just a shade under $30k.

Basically 50% depreciation in a little over 2 years. Talk about bad. Goes to show how fast old models depreciate once new ones are released.

Malibu?

I know, but it worked to my advantage. I don't really like the new one, plus they shrunk the wheelbase and thus the back seat of it, so it wouldn't really work anyways.

I agree. I like how the new one looks, but it went backwards in terms of dynamics and size.

I sold a really nice 2009 LTZ with every feature when I worked at Carmax last summer to a drug dealer (payed straight cash for it, claiming it was 'tip money' from a waitressing job - you don't get tipped in $20 bills at a diner!). They paid like $16.5K for one with 45K. It was in this really nice pearly white color.

So, what we've learned is that drug dealers buy Malibus, and if you want a cheap semi-luxurious car with a good motor, get an 07-13 Malibu LTZ V6
