I'm taking the Boss to VIR on June 1 for a TrackDaze HPDE and they require long sleeves/pants. So I was thinking why not get a cheap G Force fire suit and give myself a bit more safety? But then I thought, how douchey is it wear a fire suit to a track day? What's Oppo's position on this?

Well I don't usually attend track days, but it sounds like a pretty good idea to me...

Will add at least 5hp but also you must win, or look like a poser. I personally would because look awesome and could give a frick what people think of me, but up to you.

As long as it isn't a limited $4000 Dale Earnhardt jr. Ed Hardy special edition, looking out for your own safety is never douchy.

Get a white suit, white shoes and a white helmet with a tinted visor.
Don't talk to anyone.

Not in the slightest. If you feel more comfortable wearing a suit, do it, it's your safety and you are the one ultimately responsible for it.
Just an example, whenever we take our older FSAE cars autocrossing, we wear firesuits, head socks, nomex gloves and shoes, no questions asked. We feel safer driving with all the gear on, who cares if everyone else is in jeans and a t-shirt and it's 88-degrees Fahrenheit outside.

Not overly necessary, if your going to buy a suit, buy a real one not a single layer. a cotton t shirt and jeans give roughly the same amount of protection as that a single layer and will be much less hot. imo just go listen to your instructors and dont try to drive like your the next mario right off the bat. VIR is awesome and has pretty good runoff, so you should be fine. id also recommend track pads for at least the front of that car

I've run with TrackDaze. They put on a good event.
Wearing a suit is douchey only if you're the type of guy who shows up in a fully prepped Z06 or 911 on slicks, covered in stickers, and it's your first time to a trackday (also if it's a $2k Oakley suit and you wear it to the hotel's continental breakfast because you're a "racing driver" and everyone must be made aware of that).

Don't buy a cheap one layer. If you're going to wear a Nomex suit it might as well be a good one. An SFI rated one layer suit is only good up to 5 seconds anyways. Plus, it's always the douchey Ferrari owners that show up in their romper suits and wear them all day. Even the racers usually take them off between sessions (if they even decide to wear them).

If someone criticizes you for wearing more than the minimum safety gear, that's their problem.
When I've done track days there's usually a mix of people in Nomex and "civilian" clothes. As others have pointed out, it might seem douchey if you show up with a spotless color-coordinated designer Nomex suit, but no one should turn their noses up if you're wearing a regular Nomex suit.
Agree with other commenters though; if you're getting a suit, get a good multilayer one. Doesn't have to be fancy, just has to offer the protection. You'll use it for years and if you progress into higher events a good suit will still be usable.

Quite practical. Tracks are hot. If you have a suit, you can go shorts-and-t-shirt the rest of the time, just hop in/out of the suit for driving. No suit, you just get hotter, sweatier, and smellier through the day.

It's not the stig, but the stigs (insert your occupation here) cousin.

solid advice here, a cotton klonglseeve t and jeans can do nearly 5 seconds, pending on temp of burn
