So my first autocross of the season is this Sunday and I couldn't be more excited. However, I found a rather terrifying entry in my class. I run in G Street, with my 99 BMW 318ti which puts out a whopping 138 HP, where everybody else and myself were bitching about the Focus ST being in our class with over 250 HP. The entry that now worries me is a 2015 Volvo V60 T6 which has over 350 HP!! Now I feel like this is just way too much power for a car in G Street so I went to check the official SCCA rules and there is no mention of the V60 T6. Is there any chance of me getting this thing out of my class come Sunday? Thanks for your help! Have a me autocrossing for your time.

Thats what I'm saying, when i started in 2011 the top guys in G Stock at nationals were all in toyota celica gts' with like 170HP and 150 ft/lb and were front wheel drive. Last year the Focus ST got thrown in with FWD but 250HP and 275 ft/lb, now theres a 4wd Volvo with 350HP and 325 ft/lb, its fucking ridiculous frankly

With that in consideration, SCCA, has never shown a particular interest in keeping old cars relevant in their racing.

For that matter the SCCA b hasn't shown particular interest in setting class rules that make sense.

it should be but it never has been

i get that but a fairly competent AWD car with a 3.0L turbo I6 vs a 1.9 I4 is a bit absurd

They did this with F Stock when the 2011+ Mustangs hit the market. It ruled the class for three years unchallenged until they moved the MacPherson cars (except the Boss 302... Just my luck) from A stock to F stock. And even then 9 out of the top 10 at nationals were Track Pack Mustangs.

yep, its pretty sad how lopsided some of their classes are
