it's just a bent upper control arm and a bent wheel. Shop hasn't touched it yet. could have done this yesterday by myself with my local junk yard (they have 3 9-5 in stock). Parents are still mad. I could save them money.

"parents are still mad..." About the shop, or how the fubar happened in the first place?

Looks like an expensive shop, from the cars parked around yours.

They're cool. It's an independent European shop that started on Land Rovers. The main mechanic has 3 fingers on one hand so he can get into smaller places. Took an hour off a water pump replacement, saving me money.

My mom let me borrow her CVT Juke today since I had an AP exam. She'll probably drive me to school tomorrow. The Dodge could make the trip but I'm not allowed to drive her to school normally and I don't want to push it.

Ouch, that's not a fun time to have car troubles either.

At least you'll have means of transportation, that's good. They know the full story on why the hoonage happened right?

yeah. I told my dad exactly what happened. He works in trucking so he's seen some crashes. He wouldn't have believed that I swerved so I wouldn't hit a cat. The skids said it all.

We all learn from our mistakes, this one can be put behind you.

Make sure to try again, in an empty parking lot next time.

Well, they let you live, and you are pretty much the only part involved that can't be replaced. It'll be okay. In a while. Maybe a long while depending upon the bill. Are you paying the repairs?

I think I'm buying the wheels and tire. We haven't talked much about it yet. Im getting new wheels though, because original 10 spokes aren't that cheap and I don't like them.

Actually, having not talked about it, might help your cause. You need to go to your parents and tell them you have made plans to get the repairs covered. If nothing else wheel and tire replacement, repair costs to follow. Yes it will kill any (most likely) funds that you might have, but "manning up" and taking the financial responsibility to match the accountability will help you recover lost trust points. Have some numbers written down (cost for replacement wheel, cost of new wheels, tire cost...) and use that to show that you have already started to plan.

Worst case scenario, you have to pay for everything. Best case scenario is that you get the debt forgiven and only have to endure the next few years of "don't let that happen again."

Just my 2 cents though.

I had a similar accident in my first car. Unfortunately in my case I ended up hitting a brick fence and wrote off the car.
