OPELOUSAS, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - State police say an Opelousas teen has died in a two-vehicle crash with a school bus in St. Landry Parish. Trooper Stephen Hammons says 17-year-old Nonchalaunt Guillory was driving south on Louisiana Highway 357 Monday when her car hit the right side of an oncoming school bus. Hammons said no children were on the bus at the time of the crash. He says Guillory wasn't wearing a seatbelt. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries. The bus driver, 56-year-old Lawrence Robert, of Opelousas, received minor injuries.

still though, poor kid :'( My little sister is 17 and she totaled one car already while on her phone. She is ok but obviously this kid wasn't as lucky. Sad story none the less.

You just have to wonder though. All the press, hoopla, stats and common-sense about how seat-belt use increases your chance of survival in an accident, and still people don't wear them. I did feel somewhat invincible when I was 17, but I also knew enough simple physics to realize what happens to a unrestrained body inside a very rapidly decelerating vehicle.

"When reached for comment by KNOE News 8, Nonchalaunt's parents, Aloof and Blase Guillory simply stated "I ain't care!" before hanging up the phone."
