Yup. I first found that out when my grandpa bought his back in 2011, and I was surprised, too.

One of my swim coaches has one in white. He wanted an American barge, so he got one! The other coach drives a CLK. And the other an Impala.

Oh bud, let me tell you a thing. GM didn't and really still doesn't do big, RWD sedans. Think about it, the Impala, the LaCrosse the DTS, the SLS, and even the XTS are all FWD. Until the LTS comes along, most of GMs big cars in the last 10 years have been FWD.

I can't wait for the LTS. American luxury is coming back!

Regrettably that is not true. After the death of GM RWD in 96 all big Cadillacs have been FWD (though with the Northstar they were the most powerful factory FWD). XTS continues this but it appears to be a stop-gap as they appear to be working on a RWD replacement. Hopefully Buick will get a similar treatment.

My granddad's is that cool, but slightly old-mannish pearl white. And funny you should mention swim coaches. All but 1 of the swim coaches I've ever had drove Jeeps. It's like they signed some sort of pact.

I know that. Still, my first reaction was 'you're shitting me'. It is every time.

And the same platform as the Rivera, but those were RWD until '79

Considering how close the shape of the spy car looks to the Elmiraj, I'm pretty excited as well.
I kinda hope they keep the XTS around though, I like how it looks.

Forgive me but I find this C pillar attractive for some reason.
Car looks good from the start of the front door to just past the rear wheel.

SLS? If you mean STS, that one was RWD, it was basically an oversized CTS.
Used the same Sigma platform and all.

I know! It's crazy, but none really leave the factory that way... I remember watching motor week, and they were review the Audi A5 Cabriolet. The base model was FWD, if it wasn't bad enough, it had a CVT! That review was a little old, so I think they don't offer CVTs any more.

most A6 and A5 I see around here are FWD base cars. Just like here at my dealer, people that buy these kind of cars are not enthusiasts.

Just as a tip all you have to do is look at the wheel to door gap to tell if something is FWD or RWD.
I.E. FWD:
RWD:
There are a few exceptions to the rule like the Prelude, but this rule almost always holds up.
