My take is the Jeep Wrangler. What other car spends most time in the wild were the convenience of a refrigerator is nonexistant? A Jeep! The cooler would be great feature for anyone going out to camp, to the beach, to a lake, or just wants their drinks to still be cold even if UV rays are raping your every pore and you have the roof down. One cubby in the glovebox refrigerated from the A/C, and the other one in the underfloor of the trunk made of the same material as coolers so you can put ice in, and take it off to clean it.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So tell me Oppo, what car needs to be fitted with a refrigerated cubby?

Refrigerated dead hooker cubby. That's an innovation right there.

Agree with the Wrangler.

I would say pick-up trucks, but Ram's already have an optional cooler.

Kinja'd!!!

Chrysler could've easily put a cooled cubby in the Wrangler. If they put one in the Avenger's dashboard, why not the Wrangler?

Fun fact: The Ram Box was actually designed to hold an entire 12 pack of bottles or 24 pack of cans!

minivans and conversion vans should have one as standard. I retrofitted a small chilled cooler to my conversion van and it was the best mod I ever did. Between that and the insulated storage pods, I could easily camp for a few weekends out of it without needing to resupply for much more than more ground beef and hot dogs for the cooler

I use that little air cooled box more than the owner of the car does. Pop a soda in there when I get in, take it out when we get to the destination, still cold. I love that thing.

The Passat TDI commercial says it gets 700+ miles per tank. I'd love cold drinks between fuel stops on long trips

I thought of minivans first, but the Odyssey already has one, and the Wrangler has none. Also, I see a lot more people at the side of the beach with the trunks opened of their Wranglers, not Siennas

The Avenger concept had awesome ideas! There was this, the rear entertainment system, 2 tone leather, cooled and heated cup holders, and I really like the blue instrument lights.

when I was 17 my conversion van became my fishing cabin in the summer. You could keep chilled worms, have plenty of fresh sandwiches, have an endless supply of water and pop, and I had super Nintendo and a ps2 hooked up to a 15" TV for killing time at midday when the temps got high and fish weren't active. A chilled cubby and a TV would go a long way towards a minivan filling the same role.

They didn't keep the blue lights around, they're greenish in production cars, but everything else was available in the car. Good ideas, bad execution in the earlier models.

exactly. If you're taking the hit on fuel economy and driving pleasure, why not have something luxurious and spacious?

I've used the ridiculously deep centre console on a TJ as an esky before. Just stuff some ice in there and you're good to go. Sure it might leak, but I'm usually getting it dirty at the same time anyway.

Except if you're in New Mexico, where passengers can legally drink! (which, honestly, I'm fine with. Why make open containers illegal when we have pocket sized breathalyzers nowadays?)

Jeez, I never knew that! Kinda strange, I'd personally make it for limos only.

Kinja'd!!! cabarne4 > jkm7680
05/13/2014 at 20:28

Kinja'd!!!1

Just about every state allows it in the rear of a vehicle if there's a partition, basically a law designed around drinking in limos. Because the rear compartment is separated from the driver, it's not considered an "open container" in the driving compartment.

In fact, they encourage it in the back of the 62S. It comes with champagne flutes, and special cup holders that hold them in place by the base.
