I didn't think any of the GNXs were T-tops, but I am not 100% sure on that... Grand Nationals (slightly less exclusive than the GNX, but very similar, and a step up from a standard Regal) may be more likely for T-tops...

Buick Regal -> Regal T-type turbo -> Grand National -> GNX.

And I think the picture at the top may actually be a black Grand National, rather than a GNX... as it doesn't have the extra-flared fenders. Headlight covers and other aspects might not make or break the visual identification.

I was thinking it was just a black Grand National. I didn't know Grand National differed from stock Regals. Guess I never thought about it. I want a GNX very very bad.

Grand National was kind of the tuned-up turbocharged Regal. Both before and after that era, the sport-package Regals were Regal Grand Sport, or GS.

1987 GNX (final year for the Buick Regal G-body) was basically a limited run upgrade to the Grand National to up the power of the Turbo V6 in cooperation with McLaren Engines, and upgrade the rest of the car around it, sort of like a Pontiac WS6 package, which IIRC, buick called the WE4 package.

There were evidently only 547 GNXs built, 47 more than initially planned.

The biggest outward difference between a black Grand National (a few other colors were offered on GN), and a GNX, were the fender flares, blackout grille, and front fender vents, and only offered in black.
