"HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles" (hondasfordsvolvo)

So I was doing a Google image search for Contour SVTs... for reasons, and stumbled on this random image.
Which got me thinking.
Why isn't there a Fusion ST, or maybe SHO?
The MKZ proves that the 3.7l can fit in the Fusion chassis, and that would be enough power, or maybe the new 2.3 Ecoboost from the Mustang, with a 6 speed manual, and AWD...

There is. Or was, at least. I imagine they'll probably make another out of the current Mondeo/Fusion at some point.
Oh, and:

Darn you Europe Always getting the cool stuff. We did get the Mazdaspeed6 tho so I guess that makes up for it. But then again you guys are currently getting a Mondeo estate while we only get a sedan so no screw you guys. :(

Ill bet price plays a factor. With AWD 2.0t fusions costing around 30k, it seems to me a performance Fusion would be 35k+. At that price it would be fending off not only the WRX STi, but the Benz CLA, and a smorgasbord of others. And I think it would have trouble competing. Id love to drive a Fusion ST though!

But Ford doesn't used the SVT badge anymore one anything. Actually I'm wrong Just checked on Ford's site and they still call the Raptor the "SVT Raptor"

But those are also totally equipped because only the Titanium comes in AWD. Maybe if the ST came slightly less equipped, but could be optioned out the price base price could be lowered a bit like starting at 28k. I'd be okay with that. As long as I still get Recaro seats. The Focus ST tops out at about 30k and it's not even AWD, but it's selling like hotcakes. I think a 300hp, manual, AWD Fusion would sell well enough. Especially if they market it right and get the aftermarket to support it, like they have with the Focus, and Fiesta STs. And you can't forget the class factor. Yeah a STI might be faster but you'll also look like a tool driving it. You'll look like a grown ass man in you Fusion ST.

Pretty much what the SHO is intended to be, IMO, which is exactly why we haven't seen this from Ford yet.

But the Taurus is a big luxurious pig and doesn't come with three pedals.

I think there's supposed to be some degree of logic behind which name goes on which car. If it's been fettled by Team RS - their European performance people - it's an RS or an ST.
I've no idea what's going on with SHO, but I think the SVT badge works much like ST/RS, just for Ford's US performance division. That's why the Mk 1 Focus had an SVT, an ST, and an RS.

You say a Focus ST 'tops out at 30k and isn't even AWD'. That car is 30 grand, and the car you are dreaming up is more expensive to begin with, would have an AWD system added, and a bigger, more expensive engine. No way it could start at 28k....

I have that dream too. The Fusion is a good looking car, and with an upgraded engine and some added visual appeal it would be awesome. Im just answering your question of 'why isn't there...'
