What would you bring for a x-country road trip buying sight unseen?

Hypothetical situation of course...

But if you were to pick up a 20 year old car that you knew ran, but was probably in less than perfect shape, what tools would you bring along?

Full ratchet set? Tire leak sealant? Jumper cables? Jump box? Hose clamps? Zip Ties? Duct tape?

What would you be most fearful of happening during a long trip?

Edit: The spirit of the game being to repair it yourself, without calling for backup or help. Top Gear style.

Another car.

The tool box in my car has a Leatherman, 22 gauge galvanized wire an assortment of fuses, haynes manual, headlamp, electrical tape, wire strippers, electrical connectors, 10-in-1 screwdriver and a ratchet set.

Probably coolant hoses, a selection of rubber vacuum hoses, coolant, tire plugs, zip ties, tape, spark plug or 2 and bare tool selection, and my roadside assistance card. I still have a new coolant hose for a 1972 Opel that I drove cross country in the eighties.

80s or 90s econobox. Cheap parts available everywhere, quick and easy to fix.

I would pack a jumper box with compressor, fix a flat, full wrench set (1/4+1/2+3/4 with deep sockets), spark plug gap tool, anti-seize, oil, coolant and an extra spare donut. And a breaker bar just in case of bears.

Nothing.

I did it for a 9 hour drive back with a 20 year old mr2 when I bought it. Then drove it another 13 hours the next week with only a leatherman and a flashlight.

I may be a glutton for punishment.

I'd take this unless this is a one man road trip.

Mercedes S124 300d with an air mattress in the back (love wagons!). All the stuff you said plus some belts, rtv sealant, gasket maker, enough fluids to do a full service, random hoses, fuses, electrical tape and tools, and a spare key just in case I lose one. Ooh! And make sure I've recently spent some money (I think it's $100) at a dealer so I could get free roadside service/tow from Mercedes.

All of the above + cig adapter powered airpump and the shove in tire plugs and needle nose pliers, they actually all live in my trunk anyways all the time. Also a 10mm ratcheting wrench (japanese love their 10mm).
