Kinja'd!!!

Hey guys, my cousin told me yesterday he is test driving a Tesla this week and is most likely going to buy one. Hes talked about it for awhile. He doesnt know if he can justify the extra 15k for the performance model however. Help me out and give me reasons to upgrade! Thanks.

Doesn't it have further range? Say he needs the passing power, and mention range anxiety.

No I don't think it does. He said if it did he would for sure get it.

I may be wrong, but doesn't the performance edition also come with better range? If so it's not all about handling prowess.

But also, yeah, it's hard to justify it when someone isn't particularly looking to shave a few seconds off a canyon run. Especially when it's going to cost them a whole Fiat 500.

I don't believe the range is any different

Per Tesla's website , the P85 has the same range as the regular 85 kWh model and seems to be identical aside from the higher performance (0-60, HP rating, maybe the tires, etc.).

Yeah, I just checked. The higher range starts off at the 85 model. The P85 doesn't add range.

Yeah I tried to tell him it would only be an extra $10 a day if financing for the performance +. But I guess he's paying cash. LOL

Well, it depends on what he also wants options-wise. Obviously, he may be able to afford a maxed-out Model S for all I know, but if he's choosing between a pretty stock P85 and a well spec'd S85, I'd go for the S85.
