I wrote a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on my test drive of a Jaguar F-Type S Coupe. I don't have the equipment nor experience to do a relevant or worthwhile video of it and most of the videos on YouTube are reviews done on the F-Type R model, which is the Hoonigan's preferred car. But I found this great Indian YouTube page called !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in India. It's a pretty interesting perspective. The presenter did a nice job on both the R and the S. I would've like to see more on the S, but he pointed out what seems natural: for normal people on normal roads, the S version will be more than sufficient. Check out the video.

I am on the wait list for a GT3RS next year, and I am SERIOUSLY considering the F Type R and saving 70k!

I dont know why anyone would buy a base 911 over this. Yes, the GT3 and the Turbo are better, but they are also 50k and 80k more than the F Type R.

GT3RS? What's this?!!? I haven't heard about an RS variant. Where did you find information on this? Thx.

They still havent announced the specs or price, but the RS version is expected to be priced between the GT3 and the Turbo S (so think 160-170k), lighter than the GT3 and 500+ naturally aspirated horsepower!

How about a low mileage 997 GT3 base/RS? Purer and cheaper than the 991 GT3, stick, and still a better drive than the Jag. The greatest modern, liquid-cooled 911.

This video just reminded me of how awful my friends 2013 V6 Camaro sounds with an aftermarket exhaust. This Jag sounds awesome even with the V6

I drove one and it didn't feel heavy at all. In fact, it does feel light. Go drive one and see what you think.

If you can afford the extra i would not hesitate at buying the GT3 RS, however they are completely different cars so make sure that what you really want is a car that is more a race car for the street which is basically what the GT3 RS is, a devolution of a Cup Racer. The Jaaaag will be a more emotional experience on the street as it has been created with an e-type in mind during the development, but of course a thoroughly modern interpretation. For me i like the feeling of just cruseing around in what is basically a street legal race car, that's an emotion and a state of mind and when the opportunity presents itself, i could take apart a stretch of road with scalpel precision. Then there are track days to be had and if you like (and are allowed to) you can hang the tail out on every corner in the jag which will not need much provocation, The GT3 RS will do it to but it's happiest just hitting every apex with a little wiggle on the way out as it puts down 100% of its power without fuss rocketing you to the next one.

In any case i am envious (in a good way) that you are in a position to afford my dream car, the GT3 RS.

Nice to see a review by someone who drives instead of just drifting. Chris Harris is charming and personable, but I'm really tired of the nonstop drifting.

I sat in a F-type at the auto show and it feels really nice. It's like wearing an expensive suit. I don't know if that's something I need everyday, but would recommend for sure.

Yep, I think it will be the RS :-) Ive owned many 911s and track them often - 10 times a year usually. Currently have a 991 S with the 430hp power kit and manual - and I actually WANT a pdk - the manual is too slow for the car. The primary use for the RS will be track. Ive never owned a GT3 or an RS, but Ive driven a few on the track, and I'm looking forward to the step up. I have other "emotional" options for the street including my favorite grocery getter, Alfa GTV :-)

Very true, and this is why I'm a 911 fan. The 991 gets a lot of shit, but it is LIGHTER than than the 997, and the lightest car in that "streetable supercar" class. I love that 911s outdrive bigger number horsepower cars all day long.

I am also sick of every review of people drifting. Do it for like a couple seconds, not your whole review. I'm not buying the car to see how long I can drift. I pull that crap at Road America, they're kicking me off the track.

i saw a f-type coupe in orange on the cross island yesterday and all i could do was hoot and stare at it while my wife rolled her eyes.

someone should really compile screenshots of every reviewer's shit-eating grin when they hear/drive the f-type R into one collage.

I guess I just enjoy driving fast. I'm always curious to see if a car has quickness and agility, maybe because I do autocross.

At an autocross event a few weeks ago, I watched a newbie kid start the morning drifting all over the place. He soon realized his times were awful, so he reduced his tire pressures and started to learn control and precision. By the end of the day his times were much more respectable, and he had a big smile on his face.

True. V6s will plummit for sure, but rarity and desirability should keep the Rs up in value.

The 911 is the go-to vehicle if you're a successful whatever, even if you don't have the slightest appreciation for the car. Porsche knows about this type of consumer and that's why they made the 991 more "GT-esque" than the 997.

I smile at the thought of a Jaguar F-type R with a 6spd though.

Kinja'd!!! Pdb > Alex Asrian
05/12/2014 at 22:08

Kinja'd!!!0

Frankly I disagree about the GT-esque nature of the 991. I owned a 997 and replaced it with a 991. I drove them both (hard) on the track. The wider front track and changed rear geomety of the 991 allows it to finally compete with mid-engined supercars, in terms of mechanical turn-in grip. Sure, it's a little but more refined, but that's just keeping up with levels of luxury in it's competitors. It's faster and lighter than the 997, and I dont think any less "hardcore".

Kinja'd!!! Alex Asrian > Pdb
05/12/2014 at 23:20

Kinja'd!!!0

Hmm, it's interesting to hear feedback from someone who has owned both 991 & 997. The way the 911 is progressing, it will most likely be a mid-engined car in it's next generation. It's not like the rear seats are useful for anything larger than a bookbag anyways.

Random thought, I was just thinking how the 997->991 progression is similar to the 993->996 progression; larger dimensions, less mechanical (air->water cooled, mechanical->electric steering), improved performance numbers, and butthurt fanboys.
