5.6
Another Best "X" Litre engine with a big number, that I hope also brings strong answers. This time, I will choose an engine from a car that is loved by Oppo and myself. My choice is the 5.6 Litre V12 fitted in the 1992-1996 BMW 850 CSi.
This gargantuan engine developed 380 Hp and 420 lb. ft of twist sent to the proper wheels though a 6 speed manual only. This is a seriously cool car. It also was fitted with 4 wheel steering, and Pop Up Headlights. This is an undeniably Amazing engine, just some facts to show why I chose it:
-It was discontinued in 1996 since it couldn't be modified without a major re-do to comply with new emission regulations. Badass.
-Only 1,510 units of this M70 engine were produced, making it the Lowest production number BMW engine to date. God Damn.
So tell me, what is the best 5.6 Litre engine?

The only other 5.6 I can think of off the top of my head is the Nissan 5.6L V8.

Only one I can seem to come up with as well. That and some random short-lived Buick V8 from a long time ago.

Haha I highly doubt that engine is going to be better than the Beemer V12

AMG Hammer came with a 5.6 V8 at some point in its life.

*ahem* Shelby gt500...
Edit: Nvm, it's a 5.8...

My favorite old Mercedes, the 560SEL, would seem to be the obvious choice. Smooth, nearly 300hp, and apparently very reliable. Except, despite its name, it is actually a 5.5. Turns out, putting a 6.3 badge on a 6.2 AMG V8 isn't just dumb, it's a Mercedes tradition!

In 1986 they put it out with the 5.6 V8 with 360 HP, very very cool

Which I believe is a 5.4, or a 5.8 on a new one.

Hahaha it is a Germans tradition to overestimate badging and displacement!

Off topic, but can't resist.
BMW has gone so far off the rails with their styling.
This BMW850 CSi is so head and shoulders attractive/beautiful/honest/uncluttered/unpretentious/classy than anything they have made in the at least the past 10 years.
The M1 was gorgeous as well.

I know! People don't know that simplistic and uncluttered design is what makes a car classy. What makes its design last and makes it look great in years time. BMW Z1 also gets my vote.

Since the question is not "Best 5.6L engine ever", I submit the 1969 AMC Javelin SST 343 with 280 HP, as the best 5.6L engine in the late 60s...

Hmmm... 317 horsepower and 385 lb/ft of torque ain't bad...

Technically, the Mopar 340 was 5,563 cc - that rounds up to 5.6 liters and a built 340 will stomp that Beemer's ass into a mud puddle. Try 496 ft-lb of torque at 5,800 rpm from a 340ci motor and 602 hp at 7,000 rpm...
