1. be Canadian - the more polite you are, the less likely you are to die...I guess

2. when in doubt power out

3. remember to pump your brakes, unless you shouldn't then don't.

Canadians are the worst drivers on the North American continent. I was there just this week, and seriously, wow. If you want to learn to be a polite driver, go to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The Lakota Nation isn't in a hurry to go anywhere. They literally drive 45 mph in 65s for no reason at all, all day, every day. Any time you have somewhere to be that requires passing through Pine Ridge, plan an extra 45 minutes or so. It's a little infuriating if you're in a hurry, but it's also really refreshing. The people there are just so laid back.

Seriously? I live in Wyoming (Torrington), you live somewhere nearby?

But I've only been to Evanston a few times, so I wouldn't know for sure. It does definitely seem to be the more laid-back part of the state, though.

So can you confirm that Wyoming, you know, exists ?

And furthermore, that sizable groups of human beings actually live there?

Last week I drove from Detroit to Newmarket (north of Toronto) and back. about 10 hours on Canadian highways. I was warned not to speed, but needn't have worried. At 110 KPH in a 100 KPH zone I might as well have been sitting on a rock going backwards. Those people FLY.
Back in my young, irresponsible days I covered 103 miles on the 401 in 60 minutes on a CB700SC. Three cars passed me in that hour of triple digit travel.

To the first question: Yes. To the second: Define 'sizable'.

I think Canadian police rely a lot more on speed cameras, and less on patrol cars, so people speed a lot when they know they can. In all my visits to Canada, I've only seen patrolmen issuing tickets twice. My radar detector sure went off a lot, though, at intersections.

It's true. How do you know you're driving in Canada? When you signal to begin a lane change, the car that's already in that lane (but about six car lengths behind you) floors it toward you.

Seriously, I travel to the US a lot and have NEVER seen anybody do stuff like this. The cars making chaos on the roads always have BC plates...
