The funeral was a funeral. In Orange. After the services, I thanked my Dad for moving us out of the town when I was a baby. WOW. Also, I got back my deep SE Texas twang. Hopefully, I drop it by the time I hit downtown (currently eating Whataburger in Winnie).

My entire family is from Orange, but my wing are the educated ones. My grandfather was the first to graduate HS and college, was on the school board, and was a VP at the local shipyard. My father, aunts, and cousins all followed suit (including me, of course). We all had the sense to get out and follow our destiny, but the other parts of the family stuck around. I'm not even sure what they do for a living, if anything.

Shit, leaving Orange is the best thing you can do. Small towns can be nice, if you are rich and live on the fringe of the city. Personally, I prefer being on a farm at night, in the city during the day.
