I have two confession that I need to put out there guys.
#1 I don't think the E-type is all that good looking...
Yes it's beautiful from the rear, but to me the nose is too long, and that oval grill is just plan weird looking.
How can something so perfect from the rear be so wrong from the front.
I will say though the front looks much better on the Vert. Maybe it's the hight of the roof that I don't like
#2 (this is also a bit of a love letter to my first car)
Once when changing the oil on my first car I dumped the ATF instead of the oil: (which probly needed to be changed since I'm pretty sure it should never be black.).
Since I hadn't drained the old oil I now had 8 or so quarts of oil in my 2.2l four cyl. When I started the car it seemed fine then I go to put it in reverse to back out of the garage, and nothing... nothing happened(duh). I panic a bit, and then go get my Dad. He pored in a quart of auto trans stop leak (the car had a lot of miles so it made since) and took it for a drive. When he got home the engine was smoking. We couldn't really tell where it was coming from, but smoke is bad. So we decided to let her cool off, and think this through. Once she cooled of I checked the dip stick, and it was WAY over full, and doesn't look like brand new oil. The My dad looks at me and says "are you sure you drained the oil?" We crawled under the car and I pointed to the drain plug I took off. This is the point where my Dad started to laugh. He let me borrow his truck to run to Autozone and pick up some AFT, and 4 new quarts of oil. I filled ATF, did another oil change, and everything was alright.
Until about 10 months later when my trans suddenly stopped working. Reverse stopped working entirely, neutral was 1st, and 1st-4th worked fine. I never fixed the car . I wanted something with a stick so I bought my first Civic, but that old Camry My first car will always be close to my heart. I miss you Iggy(not really)
When I payed off the car I put duct tape strips on it, you know cuz I was awesome.
This pic was from about a month before the trans went kaput. I spent three days on this shitty paint job, and now I'd kill to have a car the same emerald green as my Camry was.

I completely agree with you.

I used to think it was awesome. But all the penis jokes make me see a penis every time I look at it, haha

I disagree with you on the E type, pictures never do them the justice of how beautiful they are in real life.
But I agree with you on the Toyota Emerald green, my old MR2 was that colour (6M1) and my new black one isn't quite as pretty.

This. There was one at the local car show that was the first one I had ever seen in person. I just stopped and stared at it for a good 20 minutes, casually chatting with the owner and a few other observers (over 20 total were just milling around it)

First of all, that top shot is of a series 1 2+2, the tallest, most pregnant looking rollerskate out of Brittan.
Second of all, the second car is a Series 1 FHC (fixed head coupe) and the roof is lower, and more streamlined.
Both cars are the same from the firewall forward.
You mentioned that you don't like the contrast between the front and the roof. Try this comparison on for size - 2+2 vs proper coupe.
Top - 2+2 Bottom - FHC Can you see the difference?
Just look at the size of that greenhouse on the top one.

Here is an other example, just to make sure you are looking at the right ones..\
top = 2+2 bottom = regular coupe.

the Jag club had a national meet in my city a couple of years ago, couldn't turn a corner without seeing a jaaaag.
So many E types, even an XJ13 replica which was pretty cool

Oh I see. SO basically 2+2=odd looking jag.

Convertible still is the best. (Cabriolet)

I agree. Although we like calling them "roadsters" or "OTS" (open two seater)

Yeah.. The 2+2 was a sellout move. Like the recent mini countryman and clubman, Jaguar wanted more sales, and they introduced this longer wheelbase, taller roofline car.
The automatic was only offered in the series I and II 2+2, and all the Series III cars (since they were all long wheelbase) In fact, I think most of the 2+2s were fitted with autos.
They are definitely at the lower end of the price range for these things.
Still can't blame you for not liking them, I just wanted to make sure you didn't study a 2+2 and think they all looked like that.
