So I am working on a 5 year plan, and if all goes as planed, my business will be started and growing within the next year here. The plan is to expand into three cities from there, one being Denver, and I am thinking I would like to buy / build a summer house outside of Denver at that point as well.
My question is, albeit premature, what side of the city is generally considered "nice" if there is such a thing?
Out here we have certain parts of town to avoid and I figure its much the same there. I would like to take a scouting trip out later this year, early next year to further develop my plan, and need suggestions. I am currently thinking the areas of Evergreen / Golden. Yay, ney, suggestions?
Heres a Colorado cruiser for your time

The closer you are to the mountains, the better. Lakewood/Green Mountain, Littleton, Morrison. Evergreen is beautiful but, from what I've heard, not the best place to live. Golden is getting way too crowded.

Cherry Hills Village is nice, alot of the houses used to be Farms so theres alot of space, a freind of mine lives there and his neighbor has a 11 car garage with a ferrari 308gts, a hummer h1, many benzes, etc...

Its Health and Fitness industry based, multi-segment spanning. It was essentially the direction I was taking the company I was running in before I found out the owner was stealing from and lying to us.

Golden is really nice. Love the homes in the area plus Golden hosts a cruise down maine street on the first Saturdays of every month during spring/summer! Good Car culture all around!

Evergreen is becoming pretentious and overpriced. Also, Lakewood and Morrison are right next to Bandimere speedway, which may be a good thing ;)
Also yell when you come out here! We can grab a beer

I will be sure to meet up with local Oppos when I visit. And I thought land was cheap there, lol, maybe its just relative to me. I found an acre in Evergreen for $19,000... An acre in Vegas costs me a quarter mil.

ya but its not hard nor does it take long to get to golden from metro denver, so you dont have to live there to be in proximity to the golden super cruise, also that thing is HUUGE and its gets bigger every year

Land is priced well out here. Where they really get you is the building costs and property taxes.

Yea building costs shot way up out here too. Were almost to $180 per sq/ft not including land.

I have lived in the metro area for 19 years. Both of those areas are nice and crime is almost nill in the entire front range ( I'm from just outside of Philly in South Jersey) so my idea of crime might be different from yours .

Denver lifer here- i think it totally depends on what you consider nice. The suburbs are in various states of repair, and they all have different flavors really. The entire area is pretty safe all in all, except for the most downtrodden of areas, but the ones close into the city are all getting gentrified. Some, but by no means all, of the inner city schools are in bad shape, but some of colorados best performing schools are actually in the center of town.
In my opinion, go for an area with a lot of developed trees- the sun here is brutal and unforgiving and shade is naturally rare here.
The quality of driving has gone down over the last 10 years as the population has grown, and by the ever increasing numbers of harried rushed drivers who think that agression somehow magically turns into speed. If you move here, be a gentleman on the streets, and a freak in the sheets.
