After staring at it for several minutes, I have confirmed that I love Estoril Blue the mostest.

I love the extra depth that the Crystal Effect paint has on Estoril Blue and I'm hoping that Ara Blue Crystal Effect will be the same (the color on the R8 LMX).
That said, Nogaro just barely edges out Estoril for the lead. Sepang looks nice on the RS 7, but not against Estoril. That said, I wish they also had the Exclusive Sprint Blue RS 7 that was sold in Scottsdale, AZ on hand for the shoot ;)

Nogaro would be more fun to drive around a track, I think, but most of the time I'd want Estoril. But let's be honest... if you gave me an Audi, I wouldn't complain about any colors.

Sepang is greater than all, only the best of Subaru's WR Blue, and Jaguar R-line's Kyanite Blue are in that neighborhood, and very similar rich, deep royal blue. (deep blue on the right side.)
Audi's dark Estoril is nice. (the darkest, in the center, ironic, considering BMW's Estoril blue is lighter than all three of these.)
Nogaro, the "grabber blue" like color, doesn't seem as deep to me, and is to "smurf-y" for me, and I don't treat that as a compliment.

And they're in the order I would chose them. Left to right. Although with the Nogaro, what I would do is have a series of stripes from left to right, starting very broad covering the entire left side of the car white and then progressively thinner stripes until 3/4 of the way to the left there's a pencil thin white line and it stops.

Even if it means you'd have to drive around in an R8 wrapped in pink and with Hello Kitty on it? :)

1. Sepang
2. Estoril
3. Nogaro
But holy crap that's a hard choice.

Suddenly, everybody's wallpaper.

Aww man. Estoril or Sepang? That is a hard fucking choice to make.
Good thing I'll never have to...

Well, it will be something I'll need to consider when I look at getting another Audi. I hope Ara Blue Crystal Effect will be available on S or RS models... but if I end up going with an A6 TDI, it'll probably end up being Glacier White or Oolong Gray.

No kidding, eh? Would be cool if it became the Jalopnik Wallpaper of the Day ;)

The one on the left is Nogaro right?
![]() 05/09/2014 at 19:26 |

Yes. It's mentioned at the bottom of the image as well :)

1. Any
2. Any
3. Any

Yes. Keyword: R8.

Yeah, and it's not a bad shade of pink either. For the fun of it, I would supercharge it and watch as people's jaws drop as a Hello Kitty wrapped R8 flies past them.
![]() 05/09/2014 at 21:14 |

Yes, that would be pretty epic.

Shame, they would really pop with the 20 inch wheels....

Thats the only r8 my gf would get on board with me buying.

Nogaro is one of the best colors that has ever been seen by human eyes and I'll stand by that until the day I die. I'm an M guy first and an AMG guy second but that color is just...beyond words.

Sepang uber alles.

HUGE QUESTION:
Where do the racetrack paint names come from? BMW and Audi both seem to have a similar Estoril Blue, does that mean that track did the mixing or something (jk probably didn't).
How are they inspired? Any history on this?
![]() 05/10/2014 at 14:36 |

That's a very good question and would love to learn more about it as well.
![]() 05/12/2014 at 09:20 |

That's Sepang, not Nogaro.
![]() 05/12/2014 at 11:52 |

BMW's Estoril is much lighter than Audi's.

Good call I mixed them up when I was writing this somehow....I must have thought he captioned the other one.
