Yes, but if it came with a 396, then it's got everything set up for a 427 swap. Taking your 396 to red line on a regular basis can then be a fearless endeavor, and the highway to 427 HP destiny.

If I remember right teh 396 cant use big block heads like aftermarket ones and crap. But I might be mistaken.
