Kinja'd!!!

First of all, I HATE GEN 2 MUSTANGS.

But for some reason... And i don't know why...

This is like the perfect combination of Paleofuturistic and Hyper Modern in a car. All it needs is Mercedes' accent lighting on the interior.

I MUST make!

So 71 Fastbacks don't count as gen 2? Srs question..

I was under the impression after 1970 was Gen 2.

Think of how long they ran the fox body!

It was tweaked enough by that point it really resembled Fairlane underpinnings a bit more, but still. Here's a neat article on it in general:

I like the fat Mustangs, but I admit they're not for everyone, and include more than a little bad taste.

Fox platform ran from 1979-2004 virtually unchanged underneath...There was more evolution under a 65-73 Mustang then a 79-04.

Most people split Mustangs into the now 6 generations, but I'm not a fan of that. They're too many intricacies in the refreshes and model designs to sweep them into such broad

I think there are total of 9 'groupings' based on body size and engine selection, with the only split I have on where to put the '69 and '70 since each could go either into first or second groupings.

1 = 1964.5-1969: Original Group; lighter, using Windsor and FE engines, fastbacks, Shelby performance

2 = 1970-1973: the Mustang Grows Group; heavier, using Cleveland and 385 engines, Sportsroof©, Ford (Boss) performance

3 = 1974-1978: the Pinto Group; new Pinto chassis, using Lima, Cologne, and later Windsor engines, no more convertibles

4 = 1979-1986: the Return Group; new Fox chassis, using Lima, Essex, and Windsor engines, integration of electronic fuel injection, quad light styling and t-tops available

5 = 1987-1993: the Top Fox Group; same chassis, improvement to the Lima and Windsor engines increase performance (V6 is dropped), standardization of fuel injection, 8.8 in. rear end, twin light styling

6 = 1994-2004: the New Fox/Edge group; new Fox-4 body, reintroduction of Essex V6 while the Lima I4 is dropped, Windsor is phased out for the Modular V8, SN-95 styling, SVT performance

7 = 2005-2010: the Retro Group; new S-197 platform, Cologne and Modular engines, retro styling with open grills and flatter panels, SVT performance with Shelby naming

8 = 2011-2014: the Tech Group; same S-197 platform, Duratec and Coyote engines, slight curving of the retro style, heavy integration of technology in standard features, return of Boss naming for Ford performance

9 = 2015-####: ??????; ERROR: NO LIVE AXLE; DOES NOT COMPUTE
