I need to find a way to transfer 17GB of video footage to someone else and I'm not sure what is the best way to do so. Preferable I would like something free, although if there is nothing out there, then I might have to resort to paid stuff. Here's a wagon for your help.

a Private drop box works well in most cases, not sure what the limit is though

Try Bit Torrent Sync http://www.bittorrent.com/sync
I don't know how fast it would go, but it transfers data from one computer to the other without storing it in the cloud. Both computers need to be online and on for it work.
Good luck!

If you break the file in 3 or 4 parts using this program... http://www.hjsplit.org/
DropBox is like 5 gigs...Google I think gives you 10 or 15...
Just upload...and empty on other side...repeat till all packages are delivered to sender.

I can split the folder since it's a bunch of video clips. I never thought of splitting them and deleting multiple parts until all the footage is sent. A bit of a hassle, but I guess it works. Thanks.

Any *nix machines in the house? I transfer large files from site to site all the time with rsync. Any time I need to share with someone that is *nix challenged, I just throw it on a web server and forward a port from the firewall. FiOS bandwidth, FTW.

Filezilla works good if you can get it set up. Lots of Google guides on how to do it.

When you use WeTransfer you don't have to clear the dropbox folder. Max is 10Gb per stint.

I know this sounds old-school but throw that stuff on an sd card and deliver in-person or post it.
