Bear with me for a while as I'm forced to keep details to a relative minimum. I should be able to disclose more as I go along. Anyways, here's the deal: I work for a market research company. We do work with a lot of huge brands that make things like the soda you had for lunch today or the pens your write with, the hotel you last stayed in, etc. As a way of continuing to bring our company to the foreground, I'd like to conduct some research and then give it away for free, just like !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . On a frequent basis, Nielsen publishes reports such as !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , or other random things that will inevitably wind up being cited in some undergrad's paper that he pulled that all-nighter for.
So, that all sounds fine and dandy. The trouble I have is two fold. One, I don't have much of a budget here, since the project's effectiveness is still experimental. Two, I don't have any ideas for what to research. That's where you come in. What do you want to know? It can be car related or otherwise, but preferably something related to markets, brands, consumers, etc.
A 959 for your trouble.

I'd like to know how many people would prefer to buy a car with a manual transmission, but don't, since there were none for sale on the dealer's lot.

Ha! Sad, if true. But it does piss me off that, in general, there are pretty much no manuals in dealer stock these days (new cars).

At the end of the day, you have to stock what you'll sell. *shrugs*

Yeah, I know. But if they know that, for example, 10-20% of buyers would choose the manual for a given model, would it kill them to buy 1 in 10 with a stick?
It's not every dealer (Mazda and Subaru generally have manuals on the lot).

what cars do middle income people who are into semi stylish conspicous consumption purchases drive ? Think iphone and 4 other trendy things that average people use to establish an identity then tell me what they choose to drive.

Oh, I like that. Cars and income distributions, along with motivations to buy. Nice. I'll give this a lot of thought
