You're modifying your Camry? Why?

But really, looks good.

Because it's different! Not doing much, but just enough to make it uniquely mine.

So, you're going to drop a grand on wheels just for the cosmetic upgrade of them?
![]() 05/08/2014 at 11:10 |

Thanks! Because of the car's size, when its lowered a bit it looks like a giant lead sled. The car's sit way too high off the ground stock for my liking, especially with the 15's, they don't help. It doesn't have to be slammed, but stock accord height (or 8th gen Civic) would be ideal as the stock height.

What is the decal on your fuel door?

Well, I'm not getting those exact wheels, especially because it's a Camry and not a race car, its my DD. I just want something of a similar style. Probably will scour Kijiji for a good deal on some used wheels/tires combo. Wheels will come much later, I'm not too worried about them right now.

There is no point in spending money on wheels for the Camry. I would just save that money for when you get rid of the thing and buy a car you really want to drive. You must have already dumped a grand on those great shock and spring set...just to go on a camry.

That sounds like a much better idea to me.

You should get a personalized plate

I got them for free! So I figured what the hell. And, I'm planning on keeping the car for as long as it lives, it only has 53xxx km on it, and it's drives very well in the winter, which is perfect because this would enable me to get a sportier car, just for the summer, rather then sell it and have to compromise on a car that would be good year round.

Yeah, trust me, I'm a student and I'm planning to get a summer car after my co-op (after I buy house of course), so I'm doing minimal things (on a budget) just to make it unique, so when I get a summer car I can just use this Camry as a winter driver.
I got the springs/struts combo for free, the only cost I fronted was installation.

OH MY GOD YES.

Seriously though, plasti-dip is cheap and easily reversible.

I'll be the last owner of my Forester. I will drive it until the engine implodes.
Then I will put a new STI engine in it and drive it until that implodes.

Free KYB shocks for a Camry!? Well any car drives well in winter if you don't hoon it...
Camrys hold up their value well so if you sold it now, you could afford a pure sports car.
But since you are going to keep it til it dies...which would be like 15 years from now or 300k miles, gas would be so expensive at that point we'd all be driving electric.

Needs dual exhaust and more open intake because noisemaker. Actually most V6 motors sound decent with a mild exhaust upgrade. You don't need a brand like flowmaster or someone expensive like that but leave the resonator on to kill drone and put on some axle back mufflers and have a blast.
![]() 05/08/2014 at 11:41 |

Sure, it may be a Camry, but if it were an Accord I don't think anybody would question it. The beigemobile just has a lot of stigma and prejudice associated with it. But being a V6, they are pretty damn quick in a straight line. Their handling is just utter shit, which you've probably helped out quite a bit with this mod. So I guess what I'm saying is do whatever makes you happy.

Oh yes, I've used it on all my rear badges. It's magic.

Was planning on getting a nice magnaflow muffler on there. The 1MZ v6's sound nice when paired with a straight through exhaust.

Challenge Accepted, I guess for fuel economy. Put it on, and have forgotten to take it off for 6 months now :P

I know right? I can't complain at all, just working with what I got.

I'm just working with what I have, and plus, who can say no to free!

I'm gonna be driving this thing until it dies a noble death. By then, I'll already have a second, summer car, which will be of much higher jalop status.

Can I be honest? I love the way your lowered camry looks! I actually like that gen camry a bit... always thought their beigeness had a bit of attractiveness to it
Back the drop up with slightly rolled fenders, bigger brakes, 235R18 wheels, and some sway bars, and you'd have one sick looking and handling ride
![]() 05/09/2014 at 07:57 |

Why? Upgraded struts and springs will make a tangible difference to any car.

It's your car brother. Mod and/or upgrade it how you want. Don't let anyone tell you different, least of all a commenter on the interwebz. Looks good so far, keep it up and keep us updated.
Hell man, taking what you have and making it better, making it unique, making it YOURS... is the essence and spirit of "hot rodding". Good on ya.

Amen brother. I believe that was my exact advice (not that you asked). lol

Many people tell me different, but I don't care too much; and thanks man, I really appreciate it. :)

that's the exact plan! 18 inchers on 235/40's, TRD sway bars, and a bigger brake package from the highlander!
