As some of you are aware, I am currently attending driving school to be a delivery driver. Going pretty well, class is like..well, how class's usually are - boring. But we went driving today, in a possibly one of a kind vehicle. Her name is Brown Betty, and she is a UPS truck, with no back storage, but rather 6 seats in back, and side windows. Specifically for teaching so upto 6 other people learning can ride along with someone being trained and the teacher. Pretty interesting, alot easier to drive then the other truck I've been in so far. Anywho, all seems to be going well :)

UPS training? I hear that's a much, much better gig to get than FedEx.

Yeahhh, we laugh about the rivalry, but to me it feels like we don't really feel at all threatened by FedEx..they really can't even begin to touch UPS, and job wise, yes. Not even fair comparing the 2. We're alot more strict (and thus safe) with drivers, we get payed alot better, we get wayy better bennifits, etc. Btw, next time you see a FedEx driver, look if he has his seatbelt on and if the bulk head door is open or not (door going into the back). UPS drivers are almost always buckled, and always have that door shut. FedEx guy walks away and that doors open - anyone can walk in and steal ur packages. Pretty sad thing that I'm noticing now during this class, but makes me a bit proud of UPS

UPS hasn't screwed up any deliveries for me, wherein FedEx once had a truck chased around Fairborn, Ohio by an angry guy in a white Kia Optima.

Yeah, it depends the driver and the local center in your location. More times then not, I've heard of UPS usually being more reliable. FedEx drivers are alot more layed back, alot more like..there own boss and thus a bit lazy ? That's the feeling I get from them, some of them are cool and actually work hard though. Are some shitty UPS drivers too, but most of us seem to work our asses off, lol

No joke, when I used to be a stoner, the FedEx guy for the shoe store I worked at used to hotbox the back of his truck with me.

I worked at Fedex for a little bit. We used a similar truck, a regular step van but with seats and windows. I was the only guy out of 8 that passed their driver's school. Have you heard that Fedex and UPS might be merging?

What city did you learn in? Seems all 4 people in my class are passing now, one guy didn't make it pass the 2nd day though (started as 5), and no, I havn't heard that

I was in Buffalo, NY. And yea, the merger talks have been going on for awhile. Once it's final, they are going to rename the company "FedUp". hehehe. (Sorry for the really bad joke.)
