I stumbled across this last night. The kid's an engineering student out at WSU. Smart kid, but that car wasn't working for a long time.
It seems pretty decent priced, but there's no money to be made, so I didn't follow up.

I'm just browsing out of boredom, but I'd like a second car at some point. Preferably something to autocross.

I was about to say I'm pretty sure I've seen this car at WSU then I opened the link... That blue is gorgeous.

The M3 would be a good one. But if you want a nice little autocross car, the answer is always.....
We have autocross in Wichita?

I tried to buy a miata but got dicked over by the seller, which I took as a sign to wait until I have more garage space. I'd really like a C4 corvette, and I think it could handle autocross pretty well so that's my target
SCCA does autocross in Yoder, and the local chapter of the Porsche club does it as well (I work with a handful of porsche club members). I did my first with them 2 weeks ago, going to again in another 2 weeks or so. I'll probably go to the next SCCA one too.

The only with 'Vettes is that so many are automatics. If that doesn't bother you, then go right ahead. The LT1s are great motors. I drove a friends ZR1 vette and it was amazing.
How is the autocross set up; with a cone track or something? I wouldn't mind autocrossing the Honda, I'm just afraid of the back breaking loose and crashing.

Yeah, manuals are harder to find but they are out there. Typically a little more expensive though. There was (is?) one for sale by a guy on the Corvette forum in Wichita that looks awful nice with a manual for $7900. If I had the aforementioned garage space I'd totally own it.
It's a cone track. I would be surprised if you got the back end too loose, but even if you did the course is laid out with plenty of run off so you'll be fine

I've got it out a couple times, but nothing at any unmanageable speed. The AP1 S2000 are amazing twitchy and prone to lift-off oversteer.
The Corvette doesn't sound too bad. For my $8k, I'd try to find a nice Fox-Body Mustang. A good 5.0 LX would do pretty well, but that's just me. Hell, even an old AW11 MR2 would be neat on the track.

Autocross isn't really that high speed, and there's no need to go balls out.
I'd take the Corvette because it's a Corvette. I'm sure I'd be better off with an MR2 or Fox Body, but neither is as cool IMO.

I think I watched too many "S2k Autocross Crash" videos before buying it, so now I'm overly cautious. It's for sale now anyway, so I'd like to sell it in one piece. Granted, we've got other stuff we could autocross.
And that's what makes a car person. Forgetting logic and buying what you set out to buy. Good on you.
