The 2010-2013 Camaro was made available with throwback steel wheels that included trim rings. Anyone who thought this was a bad idea is dumb and also stupid. They were the perfect look for the car, and worked with the styling better than a lot of their more costly options.
There is nothing wrong with the car in the picture. It's beautiful. Unfortunately Chevrolet had a mild stroke and removed the steelies from 2014 on. Dumb move, GM. Dumb move.
It does however mean Dodge can step up. The 2015 refreshed Challenger looks better than ever, and what better way to show off than to offer their own throwback steelies? I think a set of these:
Mildly redesigned to fit over the brakes would just look tits on the new Challenger. Whaddya think Oppo? I think this should be a thing. Do you think this should be a thing?

Available from the aftermarket, but too big for my tastes.

I'll never understand why this board in particular seems to love Steelies. They look awful. They always look awful. They never look good, on any car. Including this one.

Too big. Too damn big. They don't look like steelies either

They don't always look awful; unfortunately the large majority do. Beauty is objective though.
I like the steelies on the Camaro, partly due to my first car - A 1985 Camaro rolling on steelies.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume you mean subjective.

I agree. The first time I saw them I thought they were rims used for shipping-only purposes. They are uninspired stamped steel low-cost wheels and have no place on a modern car like this. I seem to remember that they came with low end tires as well.
I don't even know what "heritage" they are trying to reference, either. 82-84 third gens? 73-80 D rings? 77-81 Z28 mags?
If anything they should do an updated N90 from the 80-81 years. Like year one did:

This is my Winter set.... They are still on because I can not afford new summer rears as it will cost me $600+ used and $1000+ new for just the rears... sadface.

When I shopped Camaros back in 2011 salespeople were baffled that I said I preferred those wheels.
They are WAY better than what comes on a 1LS now...

Indeed. Those aluminum jobs are boring. At least the color offset makes the steelies eye catching. Also, who doesn't like trim rings? I'll tell you who. Communists. That's who.

The steelies have something these new wheels are lacking: character.
Of course, between the steelies and the RS wheels, I may lean RS
I really like the steelies, but the RS wheels on the Camaro are some of my favorite OEM wheels ever.

Those are nice. The '10-'13 steelies look a lot like the D rings that were on my '85 base.
And yes, they're low cost wheels. But when you're buying a base model car, do you really need flashy wheels? Most aluminum wheels available on the LS look worse than the steelies.

RS = Good. LS Aluminum = Boring. LS Steel = Less boring. Those LS wheels belong on a Cruze.

It is certainly a place where they want to be able to keep costs down but still clear brake calipers, etc. Not everybody wants wheels valued at $1500. But replacements in this case are $60-$80. I think they could have made them slightly more expensive but also made them significantly more aesthetically pleasing (in my opinion). Maybe even an 18" modern version of the standard 60's rally. Maybe kind of like this, but changed a little for the new body style:

I lurrrve Rallye wheels! Would kill to see them on the new muscle
I'll probably get some cop steelies for my '15 Challenger, though I would really love some Mopar throwback steelies. They should make them. Make them so I can buy them.

These ones look good, the Camaro ones... Not so much. I may be crazy but I reeeeeaaaaally hate two tone wheels, 2 and 3 piece wheels can get stuffed too.

I just saw a Camaro with these the other day and noticed how great they look.
Also in the same idea, the newest Beetle has a very similar thing going on that I also like:

I always thought that the steelies were a sign that the person bought the cheapest camaro they could possibly get. I don't mind the look, its just that they scream bottom level car.

Pretty much exactly what it is. But at least they're not trying to cover it up by installing cheap plastic covers that disintegrate and eventually fall off on the freeway.

Yeah, I would much rather have good looking steel wheels than hubcaps. I Hate hubcaps. They aren't fooling anyone.

The chrome outer edge of the Camaro steelie is a removable trim ring. Just pull 'em off and they're all black.
