Watch this classic!
I miss Summer 2004-05 with the dial-up I had.

Why have I never seen this before? It's actually well made.
And the countless hours I spent on militia, assault, dust and so on back in the day instead of being with girls... Good times!

Same for me man, night and day in the basement playing CS. I was barely eating and the only way to get me out was when my mom or dad would take the phone to disconnect the internet and leave it like this for over 30 minutes. cs_Italy was my favorite! There was also a toy story like map that I liked too.

I was "lucky". We didn't have an internet connection. I was playing via LAN with friends on the weekends. In a way that saved me from becoming addicted although I still missed a lot.
I liked dust and dust2 quite a bit. I hated the "fun maps" all the others wanted to play after 4am. ;-)

Haha, that video just nails it. All the nostalgia, spent soooo much time on that game. My summers were basically tennis and CS with some hanging out in between.

Haha, I used to stay up until I was basically passing out on the keyboard playing CS. I really enjoyed the scout maps and the fine art of the no scope shots. ...If only there was some way to transfer that skill and dedication to a job.

On another note, the original video was released in 2005. So it can't be source :P

Original video? You mean the one above? Because that definitely is Source, which came out in '04. :/

True. But in 2004/2005, most of us were actually ridiculing CS:S for not playing like CS 1.5/1.6. I still actually prefer the older title, but mostly for the derpy and hilarious visuals.

I remember that! My friend who had a computer powerful enough to play source told me how heavy the movements became, but over time he got used to it. I actually never tried Source...

The game as a whole is less precise-feeling. Tactics you used in CS 1.6 don't actually work, especially not with the Havok physics in play. Believe it or not, it's also easier to get killed.
I dunno. CS:S never did it for me. CS:GO is a better iteration, though that game is far more accessible than any of the previous Counter-Strike entries. By that, I mean using the guns is only a couple notches harder than Call of Duty.

Never tried it neither. I'm in the process of building a computer soon and get back into gaming.

The good news is that CS:GO is actually less graphically intense than CS:S, and where the latter took a hamster on a wheel to run well, the former takes a thimble filled with water.

Does it look as good?

The version of Source it uses is more advanced, but the way it's used is less advanced. The result is a game that looks visually simpler, but also smoother.
Put another way, CS:S is more detailed, but CS:GO is more aesthetically coherent.
