Someone at my highschool just got a CLA 45 AMG, but that has AWD though, but still.

Saw that coming a mile away.

I guess his parents read the consumer reports review on the CLA and said "oh they say its a fancy civic, it'll be slow and safe for our son but won't make him look like a pleb!"

I would just drive by and point and laugh. Idiot.

OMG. I remember when a girl got a brand new Mercedes when I was in high school. But it wasn't a rocket ship like that

First night with the car is my guess.
Some parents are idiots.

Presenting the Teenager Safety Package:

I know you already saw this, but this is the kind of shit I was talking about . A 660hp Mustang for a 16yr old. Unbelievavble. Lucky he hit a ditch and not a person.

oh yeah it is stupid. For every kid in high school who could handle this car, theres about 45 who can't, and 5 who end up with it anyways and put it into a ditch like we see here.

Something similar in my school. A kid had a brand new Camaro ZL1 convertible. I say had because he spun it into a tree a few days ago. Now, he is driving his dad's NEW JAGUAR XKR Convertible.. a $100,000+510 HP V8 sports car. Its ridiculous!

they don't learn
hey, whatever, its their money.

"Hmm, so he wrecked the powerful Camaro we gave him... lets give him the similarly powered but much more expensive car now!"
How was this ok?

I knew someone back in HS who used to borrow his dads 2004 XLR and drive it to school on nice days because his dad never drove it. Although he never crashed it.

AWD doesn't help any when you can measure driving experience in weeks. Kids shouldn't have fast cars, period, ever...

45? Try maybe 10,000. I speak from first hand experience, no HS aged kid should have a car like that. I bought a 1993 Mazda RX7 when I was 17. While I managed to not die, or kill anyone else, its only because I was lucky. That little Mazda was more than my parents should have let me buy. 99% of adults driving their sports cars cant handle them. The difference is, most adults are mature enough to realize the things they don't know and they're mature enough to know where their driving prowess stops. Every time some idiot says "yeah but hes REALLY responsible and only goes slow" I want to choke them. Any parent that buys that kind of vehicle (not to mention the spoilage factor) for their teenage driver, deserves what will, almost guranteed, end up being a sad conclusion.

I'm gonna guess he was trying to drift on that dirt road and failed.
