Result: Good. I say hella good!!! What a solid safety cage. The glass roof didn't even flinch. Can't believe it's only 40 MPH.

Me too. I'd rock the R Spec version or whatever they call it. 429 HP or something

Yes. I don't think I'd mind it not have the badge prestige of other luxury car makers.

I would DD one ... two problems keep me from doing so. Lack of monies, lack of availability.

yeah I know buddy. If I sell all my cars, it still wont be enough for a basic Corolla let alone any new RWD sedan.

It certainly feels like the vicious leftover Nachos/Cheese cycle. All of them will depreciate, and in some years you'll be able to buy these specimen instead of one new (and then 20ft long) Corolla.

Well that didn't take long: the manufacturers have already worked out how to game that test. It's all about whether the wheel collapses easily or not, so cars are now being sent for testing on the spindliest alloy available. Also explains why SUVs with big chunky wheels have done so badly.

yup yup. I've noticed that on the better scoring cars. Those overall strength of the A-pillar and bulk head not shifting is key as well. The wheel and tire does seem to take most of the hit.

I'm still deeply unconvinced the test has any great merits, although as a device to reduce the growing public perception that crashing their cars has become safe it seems to have worked a treat.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the varying the position of the arbitrarily placed protrusion by even as little as an inch one way or the other would give a whole different set of results, so it's not actually doing a good job of measuring offset collision damage in general, only in this one very specific case. The results seem very random - don't correlate at all to scores on the other tests.

I could be wrong, though. It may be something that no-one was paying enough attention to, and that the only cars which have done well have done so purely fortuitously.
