I haven't been on much in the last couple weeks as I have been busy moving. The place I moved into doesn't have internet access and my new roommates are not interested in splitting the cost of getting it from comcast. One it able to connect to our neighbors and get decent speed (6mbps) but the very best speeds I have seen from my room is between 0.05kbps and 0.45kbps. Kinja laughs me away when I try to load a page on this crappy connection :( There are about 5-10 good strength wifi networks I can receive but they are all locked. Anyone have any tips on how to gain access to one of these networks?
I miss you guys

I can't fathom why your roommates wouldn't want internet connection. How will they be able to browse oppo?!

Bake some cookies and get to know your neighbors and see if you could pitch in on their bill to get access to the network. . .

Pretty much what Squid said. Though my aunt up in Burien somehow got 50Mbps for $49 a month with some haggling involved.

Geez, ping is up today...
I don't even know what my advertised speed is anymore. I know it is lower than what I typically get though.
The middle of the road package, and only a few short years ago the same package was supposed to be about 7Mbps. I think the advertised is 18Mbps now, but ~30Mbps seems about typical.

If you get decent cell reception you can tether your phone or pick up an air card or mobile hotspot. Also some libraries used to give out shared connections...granted I haven't looked into it since the days of isdn
